PHOTOS Mama June as Marilyn Monroe from Honey Boo Boo Halloween special

Honey Boo Boo's family as zombies for Halloween You better walking deadneckognize zombie boo boo child!

Last night marked the return of everyone’s favorite redneckognizable pint-sized superstar as TLC aired the first of three Here Comes Honey Boo Boo “Holladay Special,” this one featuring the Thompson family as they prepare for (and recover from) Halloween!

The episode featured all sorts of Honey Boo Boo hi-jinx including Halloweenifying the front yard with inflatable decorations, a trip to the pumpkin patch, carving jack-o-lanterns (with a pumpkin innards fight and Uncle Poodle putting his head inside a “50 lbs at least” jack-o-lantern and not being able to get it out), a lengthy discussion about marannaise and Mama June’s mayophobia, a trip through a corn maze that resulted in Mama June having to “pop a squat” after getting lost, trick-or-treating at the Milledgeville Country Club because “Duh, that’s where the rich people live!,” and the sorting of Halloween candy — which was essentially Mama June eating samples and Honey Boo Boo filtering out all the fruits and vegetables and tossing them in the yard for the deer. (Gotta keep those deer healthy y’all!)

Here’s an excerpt clip from the episode:

Ah, but of course the most important part of the episode was… Halloween costumes! The family packed up and headed down to the (used?) costume shop where they tried on numerous hilarious outfits before each made their final, secret selections. Here is what each of the Thompson family members went as for Halloween…

Alana (Honey Boo Boo) went as a goth jester — or something like that.

Baby Kaitlyn was a hot dog

Going along with Kaitlyn’s hotdog costume, Chickadee (Anna) and Chubbs (Jessica) dressed as ketchup and mustard (In deference to Mama June’s phobia, neither went as mayonaise, though baby Kaitlyn was reported generating some of her own throughout the night.)

Sugar Bear went as a bear. Honey Boo Boo thought the costume lacking, so she went tot he kitchen and retrieved a 5-pound bag of sugar (about one pitcher of lemonade’s worth) and handed it to her pop so he could be Sugar Bear.

Poor Pumpkin (Lauryn) mishandled a car keys toss from Sugar Bear, which apparently caused some pretty serious damage to her right eye, causing her to miss out on the trick or treating festivities and costumegery.

That just leaves Mama June! After having her hair dyed blonde earlier in the episode, Sugar Bear got inspired and ordered her a costume of… Marilyn Monroe’s famous white dress from The 7-Year Itch! (You know, the one that gets blown up by a vent on the sidewalk?)

Sugar Bear was clearly moved by the vision of Mama June Monroe, leading to one of the greatest Here Comes Honey Boo Boo animated gifs of all time:

I guess we can add bears to the list (along with gentlemen) of things that prefer blondes!

Sadly, Mama June thought the outfit was too revealing and eventually opted to allow her daughters to do one of their favorite things (wrap stuff in free toilet paper) and go as “Mummy June.”

Be sure to tune in next Sunday night at 9/8c for a brand new Here Comes Honey Boo Boo Holladay Special, this time with a Thanksgiving theme! (Can you say Rednecksgiving?)

REPORT Taylor Swift and Harry Styles split

Taylor Swift and Harry Styles of One Direction have reportedly split up

Not again! Taylor Swift and her One Direction boyfriend Harry Styles have reportedly split after just a couple of months of dating. Things seemed to be gong great for the two — they even shared a very special New Year’s Eve kiss – but alas, it looks like the country crooner has yet another failed relationship to add to her resume.

Business Insider reports that Taylor and Harry flew off to Virgin Gorda on January 1st, where they planned to have a romantic vacation. (The photo above was taken while they were there.) But by Friday, things took a turn for the worse, which led to Taylor ending the relationship and catching a flight back to the States.

Luckily, Harry’s friend Richard Branson was just across the water on his private Necker Island and invited him over for a visit. “When Taylor left for the states, Harry went to  [Richard] Branson’s island for the day to let off some steam,” a source reveals. ”He did plenty of partying and was definitely enjoying himself while hanging out with guests. He returned to Virgin Gorda in the early morning hours looking like he had a raucous night.”

While neither Harry nor Taylor has directly addressed the break-up, Taylor did post a questionable tweet on Saturday which read, “…’til you put me down.” Could that be a hint at the title of her upcoming break-up track?

“Things heated up quickly and they cooled down pretty quickly, too,” a source who confirms the split tells In Touch. “They had a bad time away over New Year’s and they didn’t really know each other yet — there was just too much pressure.”

“They are both really busy and never in one place for long. Harry’s really upset about the split and is really sensitive about it,” the source adds. “Loads of his friends told him to be careful and that it was never going to last, and he feels a little foolish now that it’s fallen apart so quickly.”

This seems like an appropriate time to repost American Idol alum Tim Urban’s song from the future from back in December about Taylor and Harry’s break up…

4 Dead in Aurora, Colorado – Hostage Situation Shocks Grieving Town

The same Colorado community that witnessed the horrible movie theater shootings last fall at the premier of Batman suffered another mass shooting incident this morning. The incident began early this morning and several shots were fired at police after tense and unfruitful negotiations. Little is currently known about motives or the relationships of the victims. This Week In ETFs: January 6th Edition

The first week of the new year saw a much needed market rally, as the President and Congress finally reached an agreement on fiscal cliff discussions and signed a bill into effect earlier this week. Since Wednesday, investors have been a part of some of the best trading since the start of winter, as the United States also reported the addition of 155,000 jobs in December. While this number is not really that high and Fed discussions Thursday did lead some traders to panic, overall the United States has seen a strong start to the year. Europe and Asia also saw higher trading volumes as of Wednesday, with many global investors looking for economic condition reports due out of both regions next week [see 101 ETF Lessons Every Investor Should Learn].

Barclays was the first on the scene for 2013, launching the iPath S&P MLP ETN (IMLP) on Friday. With fiscal cliff talks over for now, issuers can finally breathe easily and plan around the compromise met earlier this week. State Street also wasted no time by filing for six active ETFS to add to its line up. Three of these funds will focus on a variety of equity strategies, while the other three will feature risk-aware strategies.

Below we outline the three best stories from around the ETF space this past week:

1. India Calls For Bids To Launch ETF To Invest in State Run Firmsat The Wall Street Journal:

The Indian government spent the end of the week starting an ad campaign, inviting bids from bankers and asset management companies to create and launch an ETF that would invest in the shares of state run companies. This is one of many plans the government has started to raise money, but none in the past have been very successful. Romit Guha discusses what impact an Indian government ETF could have on the country and the global market.

 2. Another Dubious Solar ETF Rally at NASDAQ:

Both of the only two ETF devoted to solar stocks rallied hard on Thursday after investors jumped on the news that a unit of Berkshire Hathaway has started a bid to buy out SunPower solar projects. Neither of these ETFs have performed very well over the last few years, as alternative energy was pushed to the back burner since the start of the financial crisis. Benzinga discusses why Warren Buffet may have an interest in these solar energy funds and how investors can join in.

 3. Fallen Angel Bonds: High Yield in Disguise at ETF Database:

Even as the U.S. government works to get its financial legs back underneath itself after the fiscal cliff compromise, it’s likely that many investors will have to continue to search through alternative styles of investing if they want any meaningful returns over the coming year. Earlier this week, Stoyan Bojinov talked with Fran Rodilosso, portfolio manager at Van Eck’s Market Vectors, to dig deeper into these fallen angel bonds and what potential they might hold for investors.
